Chiba University has newly established “Center for Human Immunological Diseases and Therapy Development” as a research center focused on immune-related diseases.
Chiba University has been committed to overcoming intractable immune-related diseases, including infectious diseases, allergies, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer, by focusing on the development of treatments and vaccines. cCHID aims to accelerate this development by providing comprehensive support from basic research to clinical trials for immune-related diseases. We will strive to deliver the research findings from the university to patients awaiting treatment as quickly as possible.
Our efforts will focus on two main pillars: establishing a Phase I clinical trial unit to expedite the Proof-of-Concept acquisition for novel drug candidates, and developing advanced analytical technology in collaboration with equipment manufacturers and providing necessary resources. Leveraging Chiba University Hospital's designation as a Clinical research core hospital, we will establish the Phase I clinical trial unit system capable of conducting clinical trials specializing in immune-related diseases, including First-in-Human trials. Furthermore, we will support researchers with innovative analytical technologies to achieve a deeper and more detailed understanding of the pathogenesis of immune-related diseases.
The establishment and operation of this center is a core initiative of Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS). We aim to strategically enhance the excellence of our strong academic fields within Chiba University and disseminate the outcome obtained across the university.
